Welcome to the Casting Couch

After part one and part two it’s time for part three of our casting. The “What if J.R.R. Tolkiens trilogy ‘Lord of the Rings’ would become a musical – a musical during the 80th”. In our last part of the casting we bring to you the Humans and the Villains of Middle Earth.
Humans of Rohan
Theoden – Joe Cocker
His raspy, gravelly singing voice is one of a kind. Since the ‘Woodstock’-festival he can’t be ignored and he is still a great singer and very successful with songs like ‘Sail Away’ or the ‘Beatles’-cover ‘With a Little Help from my friend’.

Eowyn – Cindy Lauper
The lady-punk of the 80th. Cindy Lauper had international top-hits like ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun’, ‘Time After Time’ and ‘She Bop’.

Eomer – Nick Beggs
After Limahl left ‘Kajagoogoo’ Nick Beggs became front-man. They had great songs like ‘Too Shy’, ‘Big Apple’ and ‘The Lion’s Mouth’.

Humans of Gondor
Denethor – Meat Loaf
The man with the most wonderful impressive voice. He could sing every opera and is doing great rock-music. Next to his singing he is also an actor and had been at ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’.

Faramir – Luke Goss
The brother of Boromir is Faramir and the brother of Matt Goss is Luke Goss.

Villains
Saruman – Steven Tyler
Next to being father of ‘Lord of the Rings’-actress Liv Tyler, Steven Tyler is lead-singer of Aerosmith. They’d been and they are a very popular american hard-rock-band.

Grima – Falco
Hans Hölzel alias Falco was an Austrian singer. He had been a very cranky one but also very genius and adorable. Sadly he died much too early during a car crash in the Domenican Republic. His US-number one hit ‘Rock me Amadeus’ was the first and is still the only german-speaken song which climed the charts that high.

Sauron – Michael Jackson
The King of Pop – Rest In Peace Michael!

So we are done with our casting in three parts. What do you think about all of them? Do you agree with the choices or any other ideas? Let us know what you think HERE – thank you!

OBS CONTEST: WINNER OF CASTING COUCH “WICKED LOVELY”
Author: Chris54 | Filed under: Casting Couch, News BlogOBS would like to announce the winner of our latest contest – Casting Couch: Wicked Lovely Series!!
Readers were asked to cast the characters for this exciting series by Melissa Marr. All you have to do is choose actors/actresses that you could see playing these characters on the big screen.
The winner of this contest, won the 4th installment of the series; Radiant Shadows
In all of Marr’s ‘Wicked Lovely’ books, love or some form of passion/lust is a major theme, and this book was no different. But the new way it was shown was quite captivating. Devlin and Ani were brought together for a reason, to compliment each other’s needs and desires but with painful consequence. The internal struggle of keeping their families away from harm but the preoccupation with each other made this book difficult to put down. I was drawn by the relationship these two created and the balance they tried to ensure to keep each other safe and well. – Rose, openbooksociety.com
Below is the cast that the winner; “GreenFairyLV” chose:
Seth: Jensen Ackles (Dean from Supernatural)

Aislinn: Lucy Hale (Aria from Pretty Little Liars)

Summer King Keenan: Matt Czuchry (Logan from Gilmore Girls)

Donia: Alyssa Milano

Keenan’s mother Winter Queen Biera: Angelina Jolie

Aislinn’s grandmother: Carol Kane

Leslie: Megan Fox

Irial: Ian Somerhalder (Damon from The Vampire Diaries)

Niall: Milo Ventimiglia (from Heroes)

Do you agree with the winner’s choices? Who do you see playing these characters?

OBS CASTING COUCH: ‘LORD OF THE RINGS’ THE 80′s MUSICAL
Author: Emily-June | Filed under: Casting Couch, News Blog
We all know Peter Jacksons’ great movie series ‘Lord of the Rings’. It’s an adaption of a wonderful book series writen by J.R.R. Tolkien. And of course, Mr. Jackson did great in casting the characters. But let’s get away from this. Let our imagination run a little wild. Let’s imagine J.R.R. Tolkiens trilogy ‘Lord of the Rings’ would become a musical. Let’s imagine further this musical would’ve been casted during the 80′s. The time so much new kind of music came up and so many great bands where there. (Yes, I grew up during that time and still think that kind of music is wonderful and great!) So perhaps, the following famous singers could be on stage in this musical.
And because the books and the movies had been a trilogie I’ll do that casting also in three parts.
The Fellowship
Frodo – Limahl
First Limahl was singer of ‘Kajagoogoo’, later he started his solo-carrier. His most famous solo-song was ‘Neverending Story’, the theme of the same named movie – which by the way was also a very good book adaption (originally writen by Michael Ende).

Samweis – George Michael
One of the duo ‘Wham!’ George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley’s most famous songs are ‘Last Christmas’ and ‘Wake Me Up Before You Go Go’. Later George Michael also started a successful solo carrier.

Meriadoc – Holly Johnson
Holly Johnson was the singer of ‘Frankie goes to Hollywood’. The most famous songs of the english electro-pop-band are ‘Relax’, ‘Two Tribes’ and ‘The Power of Love’.

Pippin – Rick Astley
The british singer was one act of 80th most popular producers Stock-Aitken-Waterman (they also managed Kylie Minogue and Samantha Fox). Rick Astley was well known for the euro-disco-sound and his 1st single ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ and the 2nd ‘Whenever You Need Somebody’ got number one in many countries.

Aragorn – Simon le Bon
He is the lead-singer of 80th most popular british-pop-bands ‘Duran Duran’. They had so much great and successful songs – like ‘Hungry Like the Wolf’, ‘Wild Boys’, ‘A Few To A Kill’ (theme of the ‘James Bond’ movie starring Timothy Dalton and Grace Jones) and ‘Notorious’ – and they’d been my heroes.

Gimli – Jon Bon Jovi
Initiator and lead-singer of ‘Bon Jovi’ – one of the best great hair-rock-band of the 80th. Untill today Jon Bon Jovi and his band are very popular. Here are a few of their songs everyone knows: ‘You Give Love a Bad Name’, ‘Living on a Prayer’, ‘Bad Medicine’ and ‘I’ll Be There for You’.

Legolas – Andy Bell
Andy Bell was the singer of ‘Erasure’. He and Vince Clark (original member of ‘Depeche Mode’) made synthie-pop very popular. Andys voice is unique and wonderful – and only he could bring songs like ‘Oh L’amour’, ‘Sometimes’ or ‘Ship Of Fools’ to life – which still gives me goosebumps.

Boromir – Matt Goss
The Band ‘Bros’ – Matt and his brother Luke Goss plus Craig Logan had been a popular brit-pop-band. Their most popular songs are ‘When Will I Be Famous’ and ‘Drop the Boy’.

Gandalf – David Lee Roth
He was lead-singer of the hard-rock-band ‘Van Halen’ for many years. Next to his incredible voice he was famous for bizarre gigs. As solo-singer his well known songs are ‘California Girls’, ‘Just a gigolo’ and ‘Coconut Grove’.

What do you think about this casting? Do you agree or would you have cast someone else who was a famous singer during the 80s? Let us know what you think. HERE – thank you!
And stay tuned, part two – featuring Bilbo, Gollum and the Elves – will be online soon.
