Toni Collette – (Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series – Comedy Or Musical: ‘United States Of Tara’)

John Lithgow – (Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television: ‘Dexter’)

And now let’s think about something supernatural including 7 female and 7 male characters – and of course including some love story, so we can add it to OpenBookSociety Valentine-month theme.

What did I choose? The ‘X-Men’ series, of course. There are lots of supernatural beings and there is also a lot of love – and of course also lots of jealousy. The love-triangle between Wolverine, Phoenix and Cyclops, the love that Rogue has to Wolverine and last, but not least, the love Professor Charles Xavier has to all of his ‘kids’.

Professor X/Charles Francis Xavier – Alec Baldwin
He is the founder of the X-Men and original headmaster of the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning.

Powers: World’s most powerful telepath, capable of astral projection, mind control, illusion casting, memory manipulation, psychic blasts, as well as sensing the presence of other mutants in a limited radius.

Scott Summers/Cyclops – Robert Downey Jr.
Summers was the first of the team’s founding members, and has been the longtime leader of the X-Men. He is the former headmaster of the Xavier Institute and former leader of the original X-Factor.

Powers: Can project a beam of ruby-colored concussive force from his eyes, which act as inter-dimensional apertures between this universe and another.

Robert Louis “Bobby” Drake/Iceman – Kevin Bacon
Drake is the second founding member and X-Men’s youngest.

Powers: Generates freezing temperatures to create and manipulate ice. Can also transform his body into organic ice.

Dr. Jean Grey-Summers/Phoenix – Julianna Margulies
She is the fifth and final of the team’s founding members, although she had met Xavier before the series. She is the wife of Scott Summers, Cyclops.

Powers: Possesses vast telekinesis and telepathy. As the template of the Phoenix Force, she is able to generate enormous amounts of energy, and she can convert herself into pure energy. Can also manipulate objects on a subatomic scale with her telekinesis.

Ororo Iqadi T’Challa-Wakandas/Storm – Toni Collette
Second field leader and longtime leader of the team. Has been a continual member of the main team longer than any other.

Powers: Weather manipulation (lighting bolts, wind, rain, etc.), flight by ‘riding’ wind currents.

James “Logan” Howlett/Wolverine – Michael C. Hall
Nicknamed, and best known as, Logan. Arguably the team’s most iconic member. Field leader of X-Force.

Powers: Healing factor (regeneration of tissue, immunity to virtually all toxins and pathogens, slowed aging process), enhanced senses, and retractable bone claws. Has the indestructible metal adamantium bonded to his skeleton, allowing enhanced physical attributes and sharp adamantium claws.

Anna Marie/Rogue – Chloë Sevigny
Has served as a field leader. Once had the powers and memories of Ms. Marvel; was forced to absorb Sunfire’s abilities permanently in Rogue; lost those abilities when cleared of all personalities not her own.

Powers: Absorbs powers, memories, and personalities through skin-to-skin contact. Prolonged contact can cause her to permanently absorb someone’s traits and potentially kill them.

Raven Darkholme/Mystique – Sandra Bullock
Former leader of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, foster mother of Rogue and mother of Nightcrawler.

Powers: Shapeshifting, with her natural form having blue skin and yellow eyes. Possesses minor healing and reactive abilities and a slowed aging process.

Kurt Wagner / Nightcrawler – Christoph Waltz
Son of Mystique. Former leader of Excalibur and a former Catholic priest.

Powers: Neomorphic physiology grants him a prehensile tail, blue fur, invisibility in shadows, night vision, and wall-crawling. Possesses line-of-sight teleportation.

Katherine ‘Kitty’ Pryde/Shadowcat – Drew Barrymore
Active as Sprite, Ariel and Shadowcat. Longtime lover of Colossus.

Powers: Can pass through solid matter (‘phasing’), also allowing her to disrupt electronics and walk on air.

Magma/Amara Juliana Oliva Aquilla – Mo’nique
Formerly a New Mutant member, a resident of Xavier’s and a member of the teaching staff.

Powers: Geokinetic powers allow her to create earthquakes and volcanoes. Can project heat and flame and can also transform into living magma.

Beast/Dr. Henry Philip “Hank” McCoy- John Lithgow
Hank is the scientist on the team.

Powers: Is physically enabled superhuman strength, speed, stamina, agility, reflexes, and mass. Ambidextrous with his hands and feet, and can write with hands and feet at the same time. Has minor pheromone manipulation, and feline-like form gives blue fur, night vision, and claws, and has the same agility of a great ape and the acrobatic prowess of an accomplished circus aerialist.

Vange Whedon/Evangeline Whedon – Meryl Streep
The X-Men team’s lawyer.

Powers: Metamorph whose transformation into an enormous red dragon can be triggered consciously or by the presence of blood.

Max “Magnus” Eisenhardt/Magneto – Jeff Bridges
The team’s longtime enemy was briefly “redeemed” and appointed leader of the X-Men and the junior team the New Mutants; became headmaster of the Xavier Institute but lost his powers on M-Day; was recently restored by the High Evolutionary’s experiment.

Powers: Able to generate and control magnetic fields for manipulating metal, flight, force fields, electrical bolts, and electromagnetic radiation.

So, what do you think about this … can you visual this years ‘Golden Globe’ winners to become a part of the ‘X-Men’ universe?

Please tell me HERE. – Thank You!

To go along with OBS’ Time Travel January we decided to do some funny Science-Fiction cross-over between ‘Star Trek’ and ‘Star Wars’. Let’s see which character from ‘Star Wars: Episode I-III’ could be who in ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’.

‘The Next Generation’ is set in the 24th century – from the year 2364 through 2370 – about 80 years after the original series. Of course it features a new crew and a new starship.

Starting with the most important person on board of the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D) – yes, it’s without any question:
Captain Jean-Luc Picard – He is a human from Le Barre, France, Earth. He is depicted as deeply moral, highly logical and cerebral. A master of diplomacy and debate who resolves seemingly intractable issues between multiple parties…just like Qui-Gon Jinn (played by Liam Neeson).

First Officer William Riker is portrayed as bold and confident, an ambitious young officer. And over time he changes and becomes more reserved, as experience teaches him the wisdom of a patient, careful approach just like Obi-Wan Kenobi (played by Ewan McGregor) in Star Wars. ‘Number One’ holds his Commander in high regard, but questions his motives at times.

Second Officer Data is an Android from planet Omicron Theta. He is physically the strongest, and information/calculation-wise, the most intelligent member of the Enterprise crew. Anakin Skywalker a.k.a Darth Vader (played by Hayden Christensen) on the other hand has been recently promoted as the youngest ever Jedi Knight to join the council. And just like Data he has somehow more than one personality – but Data’s are just programmed.

Chief Engineer Geordi LaForge was born February 16, 2335 in the African Confederation on Earth. He impressed his captain often by his will to help and fix things, which ended up that he became Chief Engineer and rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Also Mace Windu (played by Samuel L. Jackson) tries to help the Council defeat the growing threat presented by the Separatists.

Chief of Security Worf is a Klingon from planet Qo’noS. Because of what happend to him and his family when he was a child, Worf is a warrior. Just like Count Dooku (played by Christopher Lee), who is a Sith, Leader of the Separatists, and Grievous’ superior.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Beverly Crusher is the heart and soul of the starship and she is good friend to all of the senior staff. I think Padmé Amidala (played by Natalie Portman) is somehow – next to her husband – the heart of the whole Star Wars saga – so she would be a nice and lovely Dr. Crusher.

Ship’s Counselor Deanna Troi from planet Betazed has partial telepathic abilities – because she is half Betazoid and half human – and is an extra-sensory empath with clairsentience. Sabe (played by Keira Knightley) – Queen Amidala’s body double and decoy – has also very high sensory.

And last but not least the youngest: Conn Officer Wesley Crusher – son of Dr. Beverly Crusher – has a unique intelligence and great potential if provided encouragement and opportunity. Just like Boba Fett (played by Daniel Logan) – Jango Fett’s clone and adopted son.

So, what do you think about this…could you visual the characters from ‘Star Wars: Episode I-III’ taking over the USS Enterprise? Do you agree with my casting or any other ideas? Or is it just ridiculous to do this cross-over?

Please tell me HERE – thank you!

Anyway: Let’s drink some ‘Tea, Earl Grey, hot.’ with Captain Picard while Anakin Skywalker says: ‘May the force be with you.’

According to OBS True Blood December here is a re-casting of HBOs ‘True Blood’ Season One – it was first known as Charlaine Harris ‘Sookie Stackhouse’ or ‘Southern Vampires’ series.
The story is based around 25 year old barmaid and telepath Sookie who is living in the town of Bon Temps, Louisiana. There she is meeting vampires and later shapeshifters, witches and fairys.
I do this re-casting by questioning, if this series would be made for the stage – the stage only with Country-Stars … who could play which role?

Sookie Stackhouse, 25 year old human telepath and waitress at Marlotte’s is strong-willed, beautiful and compassionate. Carrie Underwood would be a nice choice playing her. The winner of 4th ‘American Idol’ is very popular at the moment. Her three albums are placed #1 and #2 in the US and she got Platin and Gold for a lot of her singles.

Bill Compton is a 174 year old vampire. He is gentle, mysterious, serious, possessive and he loves Sookie. I’d love Jace Everett for the role of this southern gentleman. We all know Jace Everett from ‘True Blood’ main-theme ‘Bad Things’, which won a 2009 Broadcast Music Incorporated award in the cable television category and was nominated for a 2009 Scream Award for Best Scream Song of the Year.

Eric Northman, Sheriff of Area 5, owner of Fangtasia and the most gorgeous about 1000 year old vampire from Scandinavia is powerful, incredible sexy, magnetic and very strong. I guess Brad Paisley is also an incredible kisser and lover and can play a viking vampire who will stand up to his obligations perfect. The Grammy Award-winning artist is also 2008 CMA and ACM Male Vocalist of the Year winner. Brad Paisley has recorded seven studio albums and a Christmas compilation and all of his albums certified gold or higher.

Pam is from London and about 200 years old. It’ll be nice to see Miranda Lambert as the clever, speedy, fashionalbe and strong 2nd in charge at Fangtasia which has a sense of humor (rare in vampires). She gained fame as a finalist on the 2003 season of Nashville Star, where she finished in third place. The Grammy Award nominated Miranda Lambert is only the 3rd country female singer in history to have three records debut at #1 on Billboard Country Albums.

Sam Merlotte is in his early 30th and owner of Merlotte’s. Rodney Atkins could do the part of the quickly healing, loyal and trustworthy shape-shifter from Wright in Texas. He placed his first single on the Billboard country charts in 1997. Rodney Atkins’ twelfth single, ‘It’s America’, was released in late 2008 as the first release from his third album – and the song became his fifth Number One on the chart May 2009.

Tara Thornton, 26, is Sookies best friend. She can’t manage to hold a position for long because sometimes she’s loosing her temper with ’stupid people’. How’s about Sheryl Crow acting as the currently bartender at Merlotte’s? Her music blend is not only country, but also rock and pop into one mainstream sound, and she has won nine Grammy Awards. Sheryl Crow has performed with the Rolling Stones, sung duets with Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton, Kid Rock and many others and she appeared on a few soundtracks like ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’.

Jason Stackhouse, Sookies brother is 28 years old with a Renaissance sculpture body. He is outgoing, sexual and even so he is not that bright I can imagine Alec „Boss Burns“ Völkel the Parish worker. Boss Burnes is part of Germanys Countryband ‘Bosshoss’. They started in 2004 with Country & Western style cover versions of famous pop, rock and hip hop songs and the band refers to their music style as Country Trash Punk Rock.

Grandma Stackhouse is in her 70th and Sookie and Jason’s loving Gran. In the four-and-a-half decades since Dolly Parton’s début, she remains one of the most-successful female artists in the history of the country genre which garnered her the title of ‘The Queen of Country Music’. Dolly Parton has 25 #1 singles and 41 top-10 country albums.

Lafayette Reynolds is very erotic and very gay. But don’t let this fool you, he can kick some butt when provoked. Perhaps Darius Rucker could play the fry cook at Merlotte’s. He is known as singer of Hootie & the Blowfish. Darius Rucker has also recorded two solo albums 2002 and 2008. His first three singles have all reached #1 on the U.S. Hot Country Songs chart and he won the 2009 Country Music Association Award New Artist of the Year.

Arlene Fowler is Sookie’s co-worker at Merlotte’s and very easily to influence by men in her life. Reba McEntire could portrait the 40 year old shallow character. The Grammy award-winning Reba McEntire released 25 studio albums – they have been certified Gold, Platinum or Multi-Platinum in sales – and acquired 22 #1 singles in the 80s and 90s. She has sometimes been referred to as “The Queen of Country” and in the US she ranks as the 7th best-selling female artist in all genres and she is the 2nd best-selling female country artist of all time.

Rene Lenier is in his late 20th, Arlene’s boyfriend and Jason’s co-worker. Keith Urban is a New Zealand-born Australian who has released a total of eight studio albums (one of which was released only in the UK), as well as one album in The Ranch. He has charted more than fifteen singles on the US country charts, including ten #1. Keith Urban is married to actress Nicole Kidman since 2006.

Hoyt Fortenberry is a good friend and co-worker of Jason. Jason Aldean could play the honest, honorable and romantic boy who still lives with his obnoxious mom. Jason Aldean has recorded 3 albums (2005, 2007 and 2009), which have accounted for 9 singles on the Billboard country singles charts, including the #1 hits ‘Why’, ‘She’s Country’ and ‘Big Green Tractor’. His 1st album is certified platinum while the other two are each certified gold.

Andy Bellefleur – Kenny Chesney
He has recorded 13 albums since 1993, 11 of which have been certified gold or higher. Kenny Chesney has also produced more than 30 Top-Ten singles, 17 of which reached #1. In addition, he has received six ACM as well as six CMA awards and he is also one of the most popular touring acts in country music.

Sheriff Bud Dearborne – Randy Hauser
In early 2005, Randy and co-writers Jamey Johnson and Dallas Davidson were on the charts with ‘Honky-Tonk Badonkadonk’ and his tunes have been picked up by John Michael Montgomery, Justin Moore and other artists.

Terry Bellefleur – Sascha „Hoss Power“ Vollmer
Hoss Power is the second main-part of Berlins Countryband ‘Bosshoss’. They released 4 studio albums – 3 of them in the Top-10 – from 2005 to 2009 and 11 singles.

Now, I’m done – what do you all think of my re-casting? Do you agree with the Country-Stars I chose? Or any other ideas that fits better? Please tell me here – thank you!

OBS CASTING COUCH: THE HOST

Author: kpic724 | Filed under: Casting Couch, News Blog

Today’s Casting Couch is brought to us by OBS Staff member Katlyn

An alien species created from the “Origin” has taken over the Earth and every human body on it. The aliens have come here to create a better world for humans. They are placed inside human host bodies and with those bodies comes the memories and emotions of the previous “owner”. Since all information is given up to the alien the host body appears to be unchanged, and the alien lives the life of the human. The only difference is a small injection scar at the base of the neck and a ring around the iris of the eye when it is exposed to light.

Now a small resistance has been created by the humans, and the Seekers, alien “peace keepers”, are out to finish the job they started on Earth. When a suspected human resistor, Melanie Stryder, is captured and commits suicide to keep her secrets she is injected with a soul named Wanderer. Wanderer is named so because she has had many host bodies from many different planets. She has never felt the need to settle after she has outlived the body. Because of her reputation, Wanderer is chosen to extract the memories of Melanie to find out where the rest of the resistance is.

Melanie – Natalie Portman
Natalie has shown herself time and time again as an AMAZING actress. She looks the part of Melanie and definitely can show her spunk and toughness. On the flip side, she is capable of showing the naiveness that encompasses Wanderer throughout the time in Melanie’s body.

Wanderer – Emilie de Ravin
This casting decision was tough for me, because looking at other dream casts they make Wanderer seem too fragile. When in actuality she is the strongest and most rounded character with her many lifetimes of experience. Emilie looks innocent but has an intelligence that only decades of experience can give her.

Seeker – Lucy Liu
Another tough casting was Seeker. This character is not shown much but her presence is huge in this story. I needed someone to match the strength and intelligence of Melanie/Wanderer and I believe Lucy Liu can live up to the task.

Jared – Ryan Reynolds
I envisioned Jared as a tortured soul during this entire story. He was torn between the body and mind of his life-love. Ryan has proved himself versatile enough to be Jared.
Ryan-Reynolds-ryan-reynolds-683861_800_600

Jamie – Logan Lerman
Just look at this kid, how can you not see Jamie? Being the main player in “Gamer”, Logan has shown his talent to take on the key role of Jamie.

Ian – Cam Gigandet
Cam has the physical and emotional strength as an actor that makes him the icing on the cake to this love quadrangle.

Kyle – Josh Holloway
Josh has shown his capability to be a “woman-hater” in “Lost”. He can play a selfish tough character who is haunted by his past love.

Jeb – Jeff Bridges
Jeff is the FIRST person I thought that could play Jeb honestly. This character makes a lot of tough decisions while keeping the peace with the “wild” humans, while also feeling that every soul should be given a chance.

Sunny – Mila Kunis
Sunny is the cutest and most fun character. She is very passionate while also kind. Mila has the spunk to definitely play this character and calm a disturbed Kyle.

Sharon – Rachel McAdams
Rachel is not shy of her “mean girl” side. Sharon and Maggie play the most vocal part of the wild human resistance against Melanie/Wanderer. Rachel has the capability to play Sharon perfectly.

Maggie – Kathy Bates
Who else can play a cranky, vocal older (wiser) woman? Kathy Bates of course. With her amazing resume, along with Rachel McAdams as Sharon, I would not go against them in an abandoned cave hallway.

Doc – Paul Bettany
Paul is such a versatile actor that could portray the passionate and genuine Doc. His smarts and non-prejudice kindness make a character that could not be played by just anyone.

Do you agree with these castings or would you have cast someone else? Let us know what you think.

Todays casting couch is brought to us by OBS staff memeber Erin. She is casting ‘The Historian’.
The story opens in Amsterdam in 1972, when a teenage girl discovers a medieval book and a cache of yellowed letters in her diplomat father’s library. The pages of the book are empty except for a woodcut of a dragon. The letters are addressed to: “My dear and unfortunate successor.” When the girl confronts her father, he reluctantly confesses an unsettling story: his involvement, twenty years earlier, in a search for his graduate school mentor, who disappeared from his office only moments after confiding to Paul his certainty that Dracula–Vlad the Impaler, an inventively cruel ruler of Wallachia in the mid-15th century–was still alive. The book goes back and forth between his search for Dracula, and the girls search for her father-who has suddenly gone missing.

Helen: Olga Kurylenko
She’s sassy enough to play Helen, and she already has the accent.

Narrator: Sarah Bolger

Paul: Ron Livingston
Someone cute, but in a geeky sort of way.

Professor Bartholomew Rossi: Maury Chaykin

The Librarian: Paul Bettany
No one does pale and creepy like Paul Bettany.

Turgut Bora: Kunal Nayyar

Barley: Rupert Grint
I always pictured Prince Harry here, and he’s the closest actor to him.

Dracula: John Leguizamo

Eva Orban: Megan Mullally

Géza Jósef: Liev Schreiber

What do you all think? Is Erins casting a nice one – do you agree with the actors she chose? Or any other ideas that fits better? Please tell us here – thank you!

According to OBS New Moon November here is a re-casting of ‘New Moon’ – a re-casting with European Royal Dynasty. Because here in Europe we have still quite a lot Royals. Most Countrys are really proud of them and in a few they are not only for representation but also for leading their people. And because there are also very much young and (sometimes) good looking Princess and Prince here is ‘New Moon’ the royal way … like the Volturi are the Royals in Vampire-world.

Of course we are starting with leading actress, Bella Swan – I think HRH Madeleine Thérèse Amelie Josephine Princess of Sweden and Duchess of Hälsingland und Gästrikland could be nice. She is third and youngest child of Swedens King Carl Gustav XVI and Queen Silvia.

The big love of Bella – who leaves her, as we all know – is Edward Cullen – because he is the most gorgeous Prince in Europe I think William Arthur Philip Louis Mountbatten-Windsor – HRH Prince William of Wales would be perfect. He is first child of Prince Charles, Prince of Wales and Lady Diana.

Bellas best friend and Edwards ’sister’ Alice Cullen could be Princess Charlotte Marie Pomeline of Monaco. She is second child from Princess Caroline of Monaco and her deceased husband Stefano Casiraghi.

Alice beloved man Jasper Hale could be represented by Charlottes older brother Andrea Albert Pierre Casiraghi, oldest child of Princess Caroline of Monaco.

Jaspers ’sister’ Rosalie Hale and her ‘monkey-man’ Emmett would be perfect when HRH Crown Prince Haakon Magnus of Norway and his wife, HRH Crown Princess Mette-Marit could play them. Prince Haakon is 2nd child of HM King Harlad V of Norway and his wife HM Queen Sonja.

To portrait Esme Cullen I’d love to see HRH Victoria Ingrid Alice Désirée Crown Princess of Sweden and Duchess of Västergötland. Victoria is first child of King Carl Gustav XVI of Sweden and Queen Silvia. She is also sister to Madeleine of Sweden

And father of all the Cullens and Hales Carlisle I want to see HRH Crown Prince Felipe Juan Pablo y Alfonso de Todos los Santos de Borbón y Grecia. He is the third child and only son of HM King Juan Carlos Alfonso Víctor María de Borbón y Borbón-Dos Sicilias and Princess Sophia of Greece.

Bellas father Charlie Swan could be played by Albert Alexandre Louis Pierre Rainier Grimaldi, HSH The Sovereign Prince of Monaco aka known as Prince Albert II. of Monaco. He is second child of Prince Rainier III. und Princess Gracia Patricia and he is uncle to already mentioned Charlotte Marie and Andrea Casiraghi.

To play René, Bellas mother I can imagine Doña Letizia, HRH Princess of Asturias, Princess of Viana, Princess of Girona, Duchess of Montblanc, Countess of Cervera and Lady of Balaguer. She is married to Crown Prince Felipe of Spain.

Jacob Black – well yes … Jake … I’m really sorry but in Europes Royalty there is nobody with tan and so much muscels that Jacob has to have … and I don’t want to include here the many many Royals from Africa, Arabia or other little Islands. That’s why I do a little trick – I hope you don’t mind … I nominate Prince Akeem Joffer, son of His Majesty King Jaffe-Joffer and Her Majesty Queen Aoleon of Zamunda.

So let’s finish our ‘New Moon’ re-casting with Royals with the Vampire-Royals – the Volturi.

Aro – Hubertus Rudolph von Hohenlohe. He is son of Ira von Fürstenberg and Alfonso Hohenlohe-Langenburg. There is no throne he can get, because Lichtenstein is no Kingdom any more, but he is still Royal.

Marcus – HRH Crown Prince Frederik André Henrik Christian of Denmark and Earl of Monpezat – son of HM Queen Margrethe II. and her husband Prince Henrik from Denmark.

Caius – Henry Charles Albert David Mountbatten-Windsor – HRH Prince Henry of Wales – younger brother of Prince William of Wales.

Jane – HH Princess Märtha Louise of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg – she is the oldest child of HM King Harald V. and HM Queen Sonja of Norway and older sister to HRH Crown Prince Haakon.

Alec – Prince Carl Philip Edmund Bertil, HRH The Duke of Värmland – he is second child and only son of HM King Carl XVI. Gustaf of Sweden and HM Queen Silvia. His older sister is HRH Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and his younger sister is HRH Princess Madeleine of Sweden.

Felix – HRH Crown Prince Willem-Alexander Claus George Ferdinand, Prince of Orange, Prince of the Netherlands, Prince of Orange-Nassau, Jonkheer van Amsberg – he is oldest son of HM Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and Prince Claus of Amsberg.

Demitri – HRH Crown Prince Philippe Léopold Louis Marie, Duke of Brabant, Prince of Belgium – he is the oldest son of HM King Albert II. of Belgium and HM Queen Paola.

and of course I don’t want to forget, the very beautiful Heidi – HRH Princess Beatrice Elizabeth Mary of York – she is the elder daughter of Prince Andrew, HRH The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York.

Now, I’m done – what do you think about the Royal-New-Moon-Casting?
