ANNA PAQUIN DEFENDS HER SEXUALITY

Anna Paquin Defends her Sexuality

Anna Paquin wants to set the record straight about her sexuality: She didn’t choose to be bisexual.

The “True Blood” star, 29, who is currently married to her HBO co-star, Stephen Moyer, opened up to Zooey magazine to defend her previous comments about her sexuality.

“I’m sure for some people, saying they’re bisexual feels less scary than making a statement that they’re gay,” she told the magazine. “For me, it’s not really an issue because I’m someone who believes being bisexual is actually a thing.

“It’s not made up. It’s not a lack of decision,” she added. “It’s not being greedy or numerous other ignorant things I’ve heard at this point. For a bisexual, it’s not about gender.”

Paquin and Moyer, 42, recently announced that they are expecting their first child together. Moyer already has two children from a previous relationship — son Billy and daughter Lilac. (Via NY Daily News)

This is one of those articles that makes me wonder what rock I’ve been living under.  I had no clue that Paquin was bisexual, I guess she was better suited for True Blood than I had ever thought…remember there are a lot of gay and bisexual characters in the books that spawned the series.

I think it’s great that Anna is taking a stand and defending her sexual orientation and all other bisexuals as well.  In her current life married to True Blood co-star Stephen Moyer and expecting they’re first child it would be very easy to keep her bisexual side quiet if she wanted to, but instead she is standing up to those who may think down on her for her sexual preferences.  And who knows this may prompt others that are hiding their sexual orientation to speak out as well.  Way to go Anna!

What do you think of Anna’s statement that her bisexuality isn’t ‘made up’?  Do you think less or her?  Or do you think more of her for standing up for who she is?
